I’ve been searching for quite some time for a new theme I could really enjoy and I’ve finally found one. It’s very similar to one I’ve been designing, although it’s colors are a bit different but it’s close enough that I’m happy with it. Maybe someday when I actually learn to code wordpress, I’ll finish my own theme.
And if you’re not reading this in a reader, thanks for stopping by! It’s nice to have you here.
There are still a few tweaks – as always, it seems – before it’s totally perfect but it’s in place and I like it! And if you know how to code wordpress themes, please give me a shout because I’m looking for someone to collaborate with. I can design, you can code. Just email me through the contact link in the navigation menu and let me know you’re interested.
I’ve been sick since Wednesday-ish but I’m finally starting to feel better. Perhaps I’ll finally get all of the loose ends on my current projects tied up in the next day or two.
Provided nobody else in my house gets sick.
The Teenager was sick last weekend and earlier this week and The Short Dude was sick the end of last week. Gman and Little Girl have had a touch of it but not near as bad as the rest of us who’ve had it. And then today when The Teenager got home from her friends house, she said she heard whooping cough is going around.
Isn’t that pleasant?
I doubt it’s what we’ve had, though. No real coughing, just mostly fevers, stuffy noses and body aches. A good old fashioned sinus cold.
But I really, really wish I didn’t have to keep getting sick to lose more than just a pound or two. It’s getting old. It seems like since the kids went to public school in the fall of 2007 after homeschooling for 5 years, we’ve all been sick more than in the previous 7-8 years combined. It’s absolutely nuts and I seriously hope we’re about finished with it. Being sick is very hard on my kidneys (I have a kidney disease).
Anyway, it’s time to go rest. Look out for more stuff coming soon. The past few days haven’t produced any database errors so hopefully those issues are over and can get back to writing, blogging and designing instead of fixing databases and such.
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

Thanks! I do like it too. It's fresh, open, and fun.
Sick is not fun, though. I have to be very careful and take care of myself so whatever I've got doesn't get into my kidneys.
Yes, I was diagnosed with a kidney disease when The Teenager was a baby. I ended up in the hospital when she was 6 weeks old with a kidney stone. I had several more kidney stones between then and when Gman was about 2 (he and The Teenager are 4 years apart) when they finally found out what was causing them.
But yeah - getting sick is no picnic for me. Even just a little cold can turn into a major hospital stay and I've had it happen more than once.
There are so many advantages to homeschooling. The Teenager is considering returning to it. That's a whole 'nother blog post! ;-)
I'm sorry you've all been sick. I didn't know you had kidney disease - being ill must make it feel a lot worse.
That is the trouble with school - the kids pick up so many germs and bring them home. I guess avoiding all that is another benefit to home schooling that I hadn't considered.
A new look and other musings
